Registry Mechanic: An Unbiased Review
General Information
Unlike many other similar PC tools, Registry Mechanic is one of those rare cases where there’s a visible improvement through time and new releases. For Registry Mechanic, Vista was just another update; Registry Mechanic 5.0 and Registry Mechanic 6.0 both received rave reviews from all over the Internet. The drastic differences between the Registry Mechanic reviews from then and now should tell you a lot about how much this software has improved so far.
It combines a pretty good interface and decent scanning capabilities, making Registry Mechanic - software factors and all other things considered - one of your better registry cleaning tool options.
Overall Verdict
There are a lot of similarities between Registry Mechanic and the common article cleaning substandard software you encounter on the Internet. But once you consider Registry Mechanic’s performance and the customer support package from the software publisher, you’ll agree that it is not the usual registry cleaning program.

Registry Repair Ability
This program makes a good impression from the get-go: the first Registry Mechanic scan on my machine took about 2 minutes to complete, yielding just under 100 hits. That could be a good sign, meaning that you’re less likely to get false positives with Registry Repair. Review writers for other registry cleaners often gripe about falsified results with applications but that doesn’t seem to be much of a problem with Registry Mechanic.
Like most other registry cleaning applications, though, Registry Mechanic prompts you to buy the software at the first available opportunity. Unless you buy the license and the registration key, you will not be able to access its full functionality.
Ease of Use
As with other registry cleaners, the registry scanning feature is the easiest to find in its feature set. However, the Registry Mechanic home screen also hosts a few other useful features like registry optimization and a registry entry restore utility. And with the colorful graphic interface, it is unlikely that you’ll encounter inexplicable menu items anytime soon.
Registry Mechanic suffers from that common flaw of not giving you many search options and additional criteria. This isn’t a very major issue, but this could be an irritating point if you’re a more advanced PC user.
Customer Support
Unlike many registry cleaning application makers, PC Tools (the makers of Registry Mechanic) rely on a fairly thorough and easily searched FAQ instead of a live chat or email support system. You can quickly browse through the topics or search for your query and get an answer directly. This might not please you if you’re finicky about full-service customer support departments. Otherwise, though, it is admittedly an efficient system that gives you the answers as fast as you want them.
Although it is strange that there is no Registry Mechanic .com domain (everything is hosted on the PC Tools domain), the company offers you several methods for establishing contact. You could even contact them directly at their international offices in countries like Ireland and Australia.
