Regcure: Real Cure or Registry Curse?

General Information

RegCure

RegCure is a registry cleaning program that claims to look for problematic entries in your Windows registry and then fix those same entries to keep your cleaned-by-RegCure PC running smoothly. Once you get it running on your machine, though, those claims turn out to be more fictitious than factual, and the software itself implies that. It costs $29.95 to get the key for RegCure, register your copy and unlock full functionality. A demo Reg Cure download is available at www.RegCure.com.

2 starsOverall Verdict

For an application that claims to be widely trusted, RegCure seems to be strangely ineffective at the job where it is supposed to excel. And with a $29.95 price tag, this program isn’t really worth getting.

2 starsRegistry Repair Ability

At first glance, RegCure shares numerous similarities with many other registry cleaning applications. Installation is quick and painless and you are brought to the scanning options right away. But that’s where the similarities end.

The program detected over 500 hits on my outdated secondary PC running Windows XP. That’s a high number, even for an industry notorious for generating false positives. The strangest thing about it is that after the program finishes fixing the errors and my computer reboots, RegCure does another scan and then detects even more errors. It is either that the program deliberately spams false positives or it is simply ineffective at really removing the problem. Neither explanation is very comforting.

Many other RegCure review writers have also had similar experiences with RegCure, so my case doesn’t seem to be isolated. That means it is likely to happen to you too. As if requiring you to complete the paid RegCure registration wasn’t bad enough, the program turns out to be misleading at best.

2 starsEase of Use

It looks just like any other generic registry cleaner on the Internet, complete with the limited number of search options and the straightforward graphic interface. However, the program becomes very frustrating as it repeatedly tells you that new errors have been detected in your registry yet doesn’t seem to be able to solve them. Numerous RegCure reviews suggest that the automatic scan feature be turned off to minimize the bother it causes, but that already defeats part of the program’s purpose.

3 starsCustomer Support

I found it slightly unnerving that ParetoLogic, the makers of RegCure, will only give you full access to customer support after you buy RegCure. If you have any questions or clarifications to ask before buying, you’ll have to either read up or find the answer yourself. The RegCure page also doesn’t contain much aside from the RegCure download link and the sales copy.

There was once a spate of reports where customers turned up claiming that they’d been a victim of a RegCure scam. Those people alleged that ParetoLogic wasn’t paying them any attention (or money) when they decided to take advantage of the 60-day money-back guarantee for the software. That issue, however, has since been resolved by the company’s posting a special link for all customers who want to ask for a refund.
