The program’s performance can generally be described as average. It’s not the best program around, but Registry Mechanic certainly takes home the prize for the most improved registry cleaner. Its current versions are a far (and more effective) cry from earlier iterations that were often flagged as spoof or malicious software. Instead of the exaggerated reports that most other registry cleaners prefer to give, Registry Mechanic gives just the problems that need urgent attention.

Power users will also appreciate Registry Mechanic for the more advanced searching options that it offers, as well as the number of functions that it makes readily available. Most of the critical functions can already be found on the home page, and no feature is more than a couple of clicks away. ErrorSmart

As far as Windows registry cleaners go, ErrorSmart is practically the most basic end of the barrel. It has the typical graphic user interface that reflects the depth of the program’s features; the GUI is about as complex as the program, which is to say not much.

It does, however, do a good job at those tasks that it’s capable of doing. Its false positive-free search results and painless cleanup method will surely be pleasant to use for basic users. True to its name, Registry Easy makes it easier for you to maintain a fairly clean and healthy Windows registry. And if you intend to use it on multiple computers, this program’s $34.95 (for a three-computer license) is cheap when compared to the competition.

Registry Easy is also very easy on the eyes with simple and straightforward controls that hide the aggressive programming underneath. It’s among the most thorough and aggressive of all the programs tested - something that many users will likely appreciate. Download Registry Easy here

RegistrySmart

One of the first things to be appreciated about RegistrySmart is that it looks into registry categories that many other registry cleaning programs don’t bother to touch. That would have been helpful - advantageous, even - if only the program didn’t have the bad habit of exaggerating reports of found registry issues. At $19.95, it’s an unimpressive software packaged with an even less impressive interface.

The customer support for RegistrySmart made an effort to be helpful, but eventually wasn’t in the end. Their replies to generic questions were just as generic and vague, and one might not be able to expect good answers from them once a real technical problem arises. For $20, it’s a so-so buy. RegCure is a Windows registry cleaning program that seems to do well at little else than promoting itself. It carries a price tag that’s heftier than the run-of-the-mill downloaded registry cleaner, yet it seems that the latter would do a better job. Although RegCure claims to completely remedy all registry-related problems, it appears to fail at keeping computers problem-free. The program kept finding more things to fix, even after it had just been used to fix a previous batch of problems. And at $29.95, that kind of software is hardly a wise investment.
